Denver, CO/Dec 15-17, 2003 - It's a different play book these days for Bo Matthews, former National Football League running back. Instead of carrying the ball according to someone else's plan, as president of AA American Moving & Storage in Denver, CO, Matthews is now responsible for the entire squad. No longer merely a member of the backfield, Bo Matthews is in motion in the front office, designing the action, calling the plays.

Based on the company's movements, however, Matthews doesn't worry about penalties. Only touchdowns lie ahead. He recognizes that as in football, office movers need training to execute a proper game plan.

"Football fans expect their favorite team to have a plan going in, not figure it out during the game. My moving company customers expect the same professionalism," said Matthews, whose company scrimmaged recently with Ed Katz of the International Office Moving Institute.

"Since the moving industry doesn't believe in on-going training, O & I movers typically learn on the job, which often leads to personnel injuries and damage claims," Katz said. Training reduces the chances of injury to workers and damage to furniture, equipment, and real property, and gives AA American Moving & Storage a leg-up on the competition by equiping them with solid tools to render the service presented in the estimate."

Matthews, whose playing days stretched from the mid 70s through the early 80s, spent most of his football career with the San Diego Chargers.

In a recent skull session, "Coach" Ed Katz huddles with AA American Moving & Storage managers.
“Mr. Katz’ is a terrific coach who has single-handedly raised the standards of office moving to the highest level of excellence.” Bo Matthews, president of AA American Moving & Storage, Inc. and former NFL and US Football League running back

"Ed Katz's seminar was extremely informative: not just for the information given to our employees, but also the direction it gave our management for training sales and operations staffs in the future.  Every moving company should want to attend this seminar since it would bring a new level of integrity and excellence to our industry."
